Punch List

A punch list is a document used in commercial construction to outline incomplete or unsatisfactory work that needs to be addressed before a project is considered complete. This list is typically created during the final stages of a project, often during a walkthrough with the contractor, project manager, and client.

The punch list includes items such as:

  • Fixing paint touch-ups or scratches.
  • Replacing damaged tiles or flooring.
  • Ensuring all electrical outlets and light fixtures are operational.
  • Addressing plumbing issues like leaks or improper installations.
  • Correcting any deviations from the project specifications or design plans.

For example, if a client notices a misaligned door or a window that doesn’t close properly during the walkthrough, these issues would be added to the punch list. The contractor is then responsible for resolving these items before final payment is made or the project is officially handed over.

Punch lists ensure quality control and help align the finished project with the client’s expectations. For more details, visit Procore’s Punch List Guide.
