What We Do

Planning

DESIGN/BUILD

Robinson builds the plan before they build the structure, as the design/build process brings the building owner’s dreams into reality. This format takes advantage of Robinson Construction Co.’s value engineering, estimating, life-cycle costing, scheduling, and constructability knowledge; allowing Robinson to provide proactive support during design development and construction.

When the architect and builder work together from the beginning, the owner receives the best-functioning, most-efficiently constructed building, avoiding problems that can arise when the contractor’s input is not incorporated into the design. Under Robinson’s design-build services the crew can deliver a facility faster, at a lower cost and with minimal risk to the client.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION

Robinson’s work bridges the gap between craftsmanship and technology. Robinson recognizes the delicate balance between time-tested methodologies and the swift pace of advancing technology. The Robinson team provides the comprehensive services required to construct today’s highly complex projects from pre- to post-construction. The strong relationships that Robinson Construction Co. has developed with clients and subcontractors over the last five decades reflect their depth of experience.

VALUE ENGINEERING

Robinson Construction Co. provides viable options to extend the project’s budget. The team’s Value Engineering ideas will put flexibility in the budget by offering a shopping list of choices to select from. Robinson Construction Co. also provides clients with direct knowledge and expertise in site planning and development. Team engineers utilize the most up-to-date computer assisted surveying technology to accurately analyze the project site. Using Robinson’s graphic surveying system to calculate and balance the cut and fill requirements, the team can make the most of the client’s on-site materials and minimize the export of excess dirt or the import of fill material.

GREEN BUILDING

The organization known as Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) has established levels of effective use of Energy Efficient Systems. Robinson constructed the Beaverton High School cafeteria, among other projects, which achieved silver level certification. The design included many Energy Efficient Systems such as recycled building components, thermally broken double wall exterior windows, as well as sun screens and translucent exterior walls to allow for natural sunlight. Carbon Dioxide monitoring, recycling facilities, bike shelters and showers that facilitate alternative transportation were also included within the project. In addition, native landscaping was developed while renewable resources, such as bamboo and wheat straw, were used for interior wood doors and wall paneling. To complete the project, HVAC control systems were installed to allow each work station occupant to control their own environment.

Robinson Construction Co. strongly encourages the use of LEED certification as a foundation of project design and considers environmentally-responsible building to be an important element of success.

SITE WORK

Robinson Construction Co. is a unique general contractor who self performs Earthwork and Grading along with the installation of site utilities such as sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and highly involved water systems. Robinson Earthwork crews are trained with the most competitive and innovative technology available including Global Positioning Systems (GPS) with Grade Control Systems (GCS).

Robinson’s Excavators, Dozers, and Graders are equipped with GCS that generate 3D Models from Auto CAD files that are provided by in-house Engineers. These files provide the Operator with control across the entire site, allowing Robinson Earthwork crews to move dirt more accurately and efficiently. Control of the site allows staging to be well organized and makes for a successful start of the project. Managing a job from the initial groundbreaking enables Robinson to be aware of any cost-effective or time-saving opportunities which are beneficial to upcoming phases of the project.
